“The 2014 Pinotage, Fort Ross Vineyard is terrific, and I suspect it is the finest Pinotage I’ve ever tasted from outside South Africa. Outstanding notes of scorched earth, black cherries, graphite, and some classic herbal characteristics all give way to a medium-bodied red that has a layered texture, terrific balance and a great finish. Hats off to winemaker Jeff Pisoni for making a truly outstanding Pinotage.” 90 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
The 2018 Higher Ground Pinot Noir displays distinct regional character with layered aromas of ripe blackberries, cherries preserves, and hints of vanilla toffee and toasted oak that extend to the palate. Rich, dark red berry fruit, juicy plum and cranberry flavors are accented with spice notes and a touch of sweet tobacco and smoky earth. This is an elegant, velvety textured Pinot, yet bright, balanced, and altogether delicious.
Higher Ground Pinot Noir is crafted to enhance sophisticated cuisine and the ambience of a fine dining experience. This wine is unique in its ability to compliment flavors ranging from exotic Asian spices; both delicate and robust cheeses; succulent salmon dishes; poultry and game birds and roast or grilled beef. Higher Ground Pinot Noir is offered exclusively to fine restauranteurs and hoteliers.
Bearing an extraordinary combination of fruit from a trifecta of Napa Valley’s most celebrated vineyard blocks, the 2014 Cor Leonis Cabernet is the epitome of our winemaking philosophy. With its ruby red hues beckoning; aromas of black cherry, and softly tanned leather alluringly announce the wine’s arrival. Upon entry, one’s palate is greeted by a teasing mélange of dense black fruit, plum and wild raspberry, accompanied by hints of cedar and baking spices. With barrel aging at 28 months in 92% new French oak, the winemaker’s delicate oak treatment frames the wine handsomely, revealing a notable structure, deft layering, and a beguiling complexity. Featuring finely grained tannins and a stony-fresh minerality, the wine concludes with a long lingering finish, making for a judicious juxtaposition of power, refinement, and finesse.
